Today, we’re sharing a successful case of using ECUHELP KTflash together with a J2534 interface to read and write a BMW MEVD 17.2.9 ECU, and perform DTC OFF and IMMO OFF functions.

Step-by-Step Procedure
Read the flash data.
Step 1: Open the KTflash software and click the yellow icon at the top right corner to begin setup.
Step 2: Plug in the KTflash USB dongle to your computer, then click on “Load and login”.
Step 3: In this demonstration, the KTflash software already contains the subscribed protocol.
Search for MEVD 17.2.9 N20 and select it.
Tip: Use the “Maintenance Community” search option to look up Bosch ECU models. Just enter the Bosch number and it will locate the correct ECU type.
Step 4: Connect the bench cable according to the wiring diagram. Then, plug in the power supply to the J2534 interface.
Step 5: Click on Identify, then select “Read Flash”. The flash data will be read out and saved.
Step 6: Click on “Load the Flash file”, select the one saved earlier, and open it.
DTC OFF
Go to the DTC Manager, and for this case, we perform DTC OFF for error code P001.
IMMO OFF
Simply click on IMMO OFF to deactivate the immobilizer function.
Write the Flash
Finally, click on Write Flash. KTflash automatically performs checksum correction for all supported protocols, ensuring a safe and smooth writing process.
Final Result:
BMW MEVD 17.2.9 ECU Read/Write, DTC OFF, and IMMO OFF all completed successfully using ECUHELP KTflash and a J2534 interface.
